Mr. King was born and raised in the Seattle, Washington area. He received his bachelor's degree in geology from Western Washington University in 1979, and served numerous mineral exploration companies, ranging from Cominco American and Unocal to private consulting firms in Houston, Texas, such as Watts, Griffis and McOuat, Inc., and Campbell, Foss & Buchanan, Inc. Mr. King developed mining process expertise in early 1980s and was named mine manager at a gold and silver mine in Nevada in 1984. He served in that capacity until 1986 when he was named Vice President of Operations.
Mr. King expanded his consulting experience into the environmental field in 1987. From 1987 to 1991 he managed branch operations and key-client projects for two environmental engineering consulting companies, i.e., Earth Consultants, Inc. and Law Environmental, Inc. in Seattle. Mr. King joined DuPont Environmental in 1991 as Seattle Branch Manager and Project Director for a large, multimillion dollar remediation project in Washington State. He managed the project for DuPont until 1998. He continues, as a private consultant, serving as project management/lead technical consultant on this project.
Mr. King focuses on project management, program and strategy development, negotiation and public relations. He has managed projects with budgets greater than $1,000,000 for over 15 years, and has developed or co-developed creative and cost effective programs for mining and environmental projects in numerous states. He has also developed strategy and implemented successful regulatory and landowner negotiation programs in Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, South Dakota, Massachusetts, Oregon, Maine, Nevada, and Alaska. He developed or co-developed successful public relations efforts for responsible industrial activities.
